HUGE Weekend Wins, POTW Honors

Fans, the Raptor Report for your men's side will be brief this week, because we can't say it any better than the League has.

"The Iowa Raptors have won five games this year, two in overtime and one in a shootout, including last weekend's sweep of the previously undefeated Wichita Wings, earning Rolando Rojas and Ymaury Casillas Offensive and Goalkeeper Player of the Week Honors respectively.

Iowa thrilled a large crowd Saturday night with a come-from behind 5-4 win in overtime, with Rojas getting not only the equalizer late, but the game winner in OT. On Sunday, things went to a shootout, with Rojas converting his try, and Casillas making a stop on David Lucio on the third Wichita shootout try to preserve the win.

For the weekend, Casillas picked up two wins, and Rojas had a three-goal game in the opener and added two more in addition to his shootout goal. On the season, he is tied for first in the league for goals scored at 14, and first overall in total points with 18."

That's courtesy of our friends at M2. We can only add that your Raptors currently trail Wichita in the Midwest Division standings, due to the League's scoring rules. Two overtime losses for Wichita netted the Wings (4-0-2) two points in the standings, while your Raptors' (5-1) two wins netted us four. We own the tiebreaker, however, which could have major playoff implications going forward.

Tough Loss Ends Lady Raptors' Home Games. Your Lady Raptors fought hard in back-to-back losses this weekend vs. Kansas City (1/31) and the Iowa Demon Hawks (2/1). We netted two goals in both contests. In the first tilt, Madisyn Hunt and Nina Sanchez found the back of the net, with Karen Villeda assisting. In the second, Sanchez and Ava D'Ambrosio scored, both unassisted.

Your Lady Raptors will finish their season on the road, with tilts at Des Moines on February 14 and 28, both vs. the Demon Hawks.

Upcoming Home Games: Your Raptor men have a doubleheader vs. Des Moines in late March. The first match against the Demon Hawks kicks off at 7pm on Saturday, March 21; the second contest starts at 4pm on Sunday the 22nd. The Demon Hawks are currently undefeated, so this series will no doubt have major playoff implications. Get your tickets today!
