It's a battle of unbeatens tonight as your Raptors travel to Wichita to take on the 3-0 Wings. This is the first of three straight tilts against Wichita; the Wings travel to Cedar Rapids for back-to-back showdowns the weekend after next (January 31 - February 1).
So far, the Wings have put up excellent numbers, netting a league-leading 24 goals and allowing just 9, a +15 point differential that's good for third in the MASL2. Perhaps even more impressively, the Wings have killed off 80% of their penalties thus far, and primary goalkeeper Jose Ocampo has allowed just four goals in two starts, while stopping 81% of the shots against him.
The Wings also boast plenty of firepower on offense. Two Wings, Radley Arnold and Lelo Derath, have five goals apiece; Junior Quezada and Sergio Najera each have three, and David Lucio and Brian Aleman have two each. Lucio leads the Wings with five assists, while Arnold, Aleman, and Juan Zamora have three each.
Your Raptors average 7.3 goals per game and have a +7 goal differential on the season. Jonah Dancer leads all Raptors' scorers with 6 goals, followed by Ronaldo Rojas (5) and Beni Mubake (4). Unfortunately, your Raptors will be without leading assist man Jake Johnson (5), who is nursing an ankle injury. Look for veterans Bobby Hurwitz, who has two assists on the season, and Rojas (3) to step up.
Players to watch: Beni Mubake put on a clinic last game against Omaha, scoring a hat trick. He's got a hot foot, and looks to keep scoring in Wichita. Rookie Griffin Storr also came up big against Omaha, and he'll need to have another big game against the Wings. Also watch out for Hussein Muhammad, a speedster who has been getting good looks lately on limited time.
The action starts at 7pm in Wichita; the livestream can be found on the @WichitaWings social media feeds.
